Huberlett goes to Morocco

The Ben Youssef Medersa in Marrakech:
16th-century Koranic school, the largest in North Africa. Up to 900 people studied here, living in tiny rooms on the upper-level arranged around inner courtyards.

The Museum of Marrakech

The museum took some finding in the middle of the souks in the medina, but was worthwhile if only for the stunning building itself which is contained within the 19th century Mnebhi Palace, complete with fountains in the covered courtyard and zellij mosaic on the walls. There are displays of paintings, photos, textiles and contemporary art in several of the halls leading off from the main courtyard. The hammam (steam bath) and kitchen are also used for temporary exhibitions.

The Koubba Ba'adiyn (Koubba Almoravid)

This is the only remaining example of Almoravid architecture in Morocco, and was used for ablutions before prayer in the nearby Ali Ben Youssef mosque. The koubba was excavated in 1948.

High Atlas Mountains

The following photos were taken in and around Dar Tassa, our home in the mountains for 3 days. The weather there was changeable - it changed from torrential rain to freezing cold to reasonably warm and back again.
